Cherished SWE MemoriesI didn’t really start getting into SWE until my junior year. We were online all semester due to the pandemic and I missed being able to socialize with my peers. I started going to the virtual social events that SWE had to offer and they would put us into break out rooms to talk to other members while we’re working on something for the event. It really got me out of the socializing rut I was previously in. I was able to make some friends that I could look forward to talking to while we were on Zoom. When SWE did Plant Night during the spring semester of 2021, it was a whole vibe. They provided a kit for us to plant seeds and paint a pot. While painting and planting, we were all just vibing to music. I like trying to romanticize my life sometimes, so I was having a blast. That was an important note since the reason why I was having a blast was because in addition to the combination of painting, planting, and listening to music, the weather was fantastic. It wasn’t too hot or too cold,so my window and door were open, too. I really romanticized that moment in my life haha!
However, when looking back on my memories with SWE, it’s hard to pin-point a favorite memory. So, instead I would say that my favorite semester with SWE was Fall 2021, my fall semester of senior year. One of the reasons that was my favorite semester with SWE is because of two people who were there. Our very own president, Hailey Cuevas, and our friend, Brittney Seaburn. Both Hailey and Brittney are the reasons why I had the confidence to attend the meetings because I was able to sit and talk with her without feeling awkward or alone while being there. There were always many fun conversations and laughs with them. Rather than just the events, it was a feeling of belonging and happiness that made it my favorite semester. I’m not sure how much of what we did will remain in my memories in the far future, but I know for sure that I will always remember the happiness I felt while being there.

This picture is the result of pumpkin painting night. I honestly don’t remember what I was even going for!
This picture is the result of cookie decorating night. Mine is on the left with an attempt of a wreath and Hailey’s is the one on the right.
